PM Modi Emphasizes India's Digital Leadership and Global Partnership at GFF 2025 Mumbai

(October 9 2025, Jio World Convention Centre Mumbai)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025, gave a strong speech highlighting India's digital revolution and its determination to give the world its innovations, especially the Global South. The address was centered on exploiting the untapped potential of the country, the global application of India Stack, and the changing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in bringing equity and sustainability to financial inclusion.

India: A Beacon of Hope for the Global South

PM Modi placed India's success story not only as a national success but as a "ray of hope" for the Global South. He reaffirmed India's determination to enhance Digital Cooperation and Digital Partnership in the world.

• Public Good Sharing Platforms: India is energetically sharing its experience and open-source platforms as a "global public good." A prime example is MOSIP (Modular Open-Source Identity Platform), which has been taken up by more than twenty-five countries to develop their sovereign digital identity systems.

• Digital Empowerment, Not Aid: The Prime Minister emphasized that India's support is not "digital aid" but a bid at digital empowerment, assisting other countries in developing technology and not merely passing it on.

FinTech Ecosystem and Growth

Modi outlined the huge leap that has been taken by India's FinTech ecosystem, whose homegrown solutions are gaining universal applicability.

• International Acclaim: The globe is taking notice of the emergence of Indian startups in spaces such as inter-operable QR networks, open commerce, and open finance platforms.

• Premier Funding: In the first half of this year alone, India became a member of the top three most-funded Fin-Tech ecosystems worldwide, a testament to its rich innovation ecosystem.

The Role of AI: Scale, Inclusion, and Trust

The Prime Minister stated that India's uniqueness lies beyond scale; it's about aligning Scale with Inclusion, Resilience, and Sustainability. This is where AI comes into play.

• Fighting Bias and Deception: AI has the ability to minimize under-writing bias, catch fraud in real time, and increase several services.

Three Principles of India-AI Mission: India's strategy for AI is rooted in three guiding principles:

• Equitable Access

• Population-scale Skilling

• Responsible Deployment

"All Inclusive" AI: Modi presented a unique vision for AI by defining AI as "All Inclusive" where AI benefits are to be delivered to every district and language.

• Creating a Trust Layer: Whereas the world haggles over 'Trust and Safety rules' for AI, India is already constructing a 'trust layer,' and India-AI Mission is planning to address both data and privacy issues.

People-Centric Transformation

India's digital revolution's center continues to be people-oriented. Modi presented principal objectives in which AI may be the prime mover:

Financial Objective  - AI Powered Priority

Payments -  Speed and Confidence

Credit  - Approvals and Accessibility

Insurance  - Policies and Punctual Claims

Investments  - Accessibility and Clarity

He reiterated that new users of digital finance need the assurance that mistakes will be resolved quickly, thus making Digital Inclusion and Trust robust.

UK-India Partnership and Global Invitation

The address also emphasized the growing UK-India cooperation in the fintech and digital economy.

• Shift from Safety to Impact: PM Modi underscored the shift from the AI Safety Summit led by the UK to the forthcoming AI Impact Summit in India next year.

• Win-Win Partnership: He characterized the partnership between UK's Research and Global Finance Expertise and India's Scale and Talent as a win-win combination that can open "new gates of opportunities" across the world.

• Fintech Corridor and Integration: The UK-India Fintech Corridor will open up the scope for new startups and even enhance collaboration between the London Stock Exchange and GIFT City, enhancing financial integration to enhance the scope for deriving the maximum benefits of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

PM Modi ended on an international call, inviting all partners and investors to "grow with India's growth," and create a FinTech world where Technology nurtures both People and Planet, and innovation strives for Goodness and finance spurs Human Progress.
